A RARE OPPORTUNITY

Known to very few and experienced by only a handful of hunting enthusiasts, the Ellerslie Camperdown Hunt has reached legendary status.

For over 90 years, it took a very rare personal invitation to be able to join this private hunt. Requests from around the world were politely but firmly refused. However, the word has slowly spread and the requests have increased to a point where it has been decided to include a small number of guests..

.
.
.
The opportunity has arrived for a fortunate few to experience some of the most exciting days of their lives.
.
BACK

THE HUNTING GROUND

There is nothing quite like it in the world. Just 2 hours from Melbourne, Australia can be found over 200 square miles of grassland, studded with soft tussocks coverts along riverbanks and low lying areas.

More than 2000 wooden panels have been built to allow the field to enjoy a safe and exciting day's sport.

It is the perfect breeding ground for foxes which relish the conditions and grow far larger than their brethren in other areas of Australia..

Their main self defence instinct is to run and run. This frequently results in runs for over an hour. Distances of 8 to 10 miles are not uncommon and runs over 20 miles occur at least six times a season.
BACK

THE HUNT MASTER

John Crosbie Goold has been a dedicated huntsman for over 20 years and is the trusted owner of the pack of hounds. He has been riding since he could walk and has represented Australia in the National Polo Team and reached a handicap in Australia and the USA of six goals.

He has hunted on numerous occasions in America with Arapohoe, Iroquois, Piedmont, Mr Stewart's Cheshire Fox Hounds, Midland and Green Spring Valley Hunts also England with the Beaufort, Cottesmore, Quorn and Cotswold Hunts.

THE HOUNDS

The breeding of the hounds is based on Cottesmore/Beaufort/ Exmoor bloodlines but is dominated by Captain Brian Fanshawe's famous ST line.

There are 35 to 40 couple in kennels. 18 ½ to 22 ½ couple are drafted on each hunt day.
.
Due to the outstanding opportunity presented by the hunting country, the hounds have developed wonderful nose, voice and drive.
